The Best Mumbai Tours

Eighteen tours, ranked by what they actually deliver — not by who pays us most.

We rank these on four things: how much of the real Mumbai you see, the quality of the guiding, value for money, and what travellers say afterwards — with extra weight for tours that have hundreds of reviews rather than a handful.

We earn a commission if you book through the links below, at no extra cost to you. Prices are indicative “from” prices seen on the listings and many depend on group size — always check the live price before you book.

How we rank these tours

We look at four things, in this order:

  • What you actually see. A “city tour” that spends half its time in traffic or in shops is not a good city tour.
  • Guiding. In Mumbai the stories matter more than the buildings. A guide who grew up here makes all the difference.
  • Value. Not the lowest price — the most experience for your money.
  • What reviewers say afterwards. We read the critical reviews, not just the glowing ones, and we favour tours with a long track record.
Our honest advice: do not over-schedule. Mumbai’s traffic and heat punish packed itineraries. One guided experience a day, with time left over to walk Marine Drive or sit in an Irani café, is about right.

Plan your Mumbai days

See Mumbai with someone who knows it

The Gateway, the caves at Elephanta, the bazaars, the local train and a plate of pav bhaji at the right stall — a good guide turns a big, loud city into an easy one. Compare tours and book in a couple of taps.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best tour in Mumbai?

For a first visit, the full-day sightseeing tour by car. For repeat visitors, the Dharavi, Dhobi Ghat and dabbawalas tour or the street-food walk show a side of the city the monuments do not.

Is a private or a group tour better?

Private tours cost little more in Mumbai and let you set the pace, which matters in the heat. Group walking tours are good value and sociable.

Do tours include hotel pickup?

Car-based tours usually include pickup from hotels in South Mumbai and often from the suburbs for a supplement. Walking tours start at a meeting point, usually near a railway station.

Are tours available in languages other than English?

English is standard and many guides also speak Hindi and Marathi. Some listings offer French, Spanish, German or Arabic — check the languages on the booking page.
