About MumbaiTravel.com

An independent guide to India’s biggest city, written for travellers who want more than a checklist.

MumbaiTravel.com exists because Mumbai rewards a little preparation more than almost any city we know. It is an independent travel guide to Mumbai and the places you can reach from it, written to help you spend your time on the sea wall rather than in a traffic jam.

What we cover

  • How to arrive and get around — terminals, trains, Metro, taxis and the new sea roads — with realistic journey times.
  • Which tours are worth booking, ranked honestly.
  • What to see, from the Gateway of India and Elephanta to Bandra and the Kanheri Caves.
  • Which area to stay in, and why it matters.
  • When to come, and what the monsoon is really like.

How we research

Information is checked against official sources, operators, transport bodies and booking platforms, and reviewed regularly. Mumbai changes fast — Metro lines open, roads are built, fees rise — so where a detail is likely to move we say “around” or “check current rates” rather than give a number that will soon be wrong.

Where we express an opinion, it is an opinion. We tell you when a day trip is too long, when the monsoon will cancel the ferry, and when the free option is the better one.

How the site is funded

We are a GetYourGuide affiliate partner and link to Trip.com for hotels. If you book a tour or a room through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is how the site stays free and free of advertising. It never decides what we recommend — see our affiliate disclosure.

Plan your Mumbai days

See Mumbai with someone who knows it

The Gateway, the caves at Elephanta, the bazaars, the local train and a plate of pav bhaji at the right stall — a good guide turns a big, loud city into an easy one. Compare tours and book in a couple of taps.
